1. What is the prostate?
The prostate is a small gland in men, about the size of a walnut.
It sits just below the bladder and surrounds part of the urethra (the tube that carries urine out of the body). It produces some of the fluid that makes up semen.
As men get older, the prostate often changes. Some of these changes are benign (non-cancerous), others can be more serious.
2. Common prostate problems
a) Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

BPH means non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate.

Because the prostate surrounds the urethra, enlargement can squeeze the urethra and affect urination.
